Natural Lip Scrub – Cure for Chapped Lips

Natural Lip Scrub

Homemade Natural Lip Scrub Recipes

Got dry lips?  Many cities are still feeling the bitter cold of winter, which means dealing with harsh elements that pose some beauty issues, chapped lips in particular. You can keep your pout soft and moisturized by creating a very simple and natural lip scrub at home.

All you need are three basic ingredients, all of which are probably staples in your pantry already. Sugar exfoliates, while honey and olive oil add moisture. In fact, you can make this recipe year round as a weekly pick-me-up for your lips. And as an added bonus, no need to step out into the snow to buy it from a store!

Lip scrub ingredients

You will need sugar; I prefer brown sugar, but you could use granulated, mixed in with the honey and extra virgin olive oil. Blend all ingredients in a small container, measuring equal parts of each ingredient in your bowl. I like to make a two-use batch, so I combine about half a teaspoon of each ingredient. If you want more graininess, add in more sugar. Likewise, if you want a smoother batch, add more olive oil or honey.

Directions

Apply the mixture to the lips, and really scrub off the dead skin and dry patches. Then you can either taste the scrub left on your lips or just wipe it away. Seal in the moisture with Vaseline or a lip balm. I swear by Smith’s Rosebud Salve.

You can store any leftover scrub by covering with plastic wrap and keeping it in the fridge for a few days. You can add a multitude of ingredients to make the best scrub for you, including capsules of vitamins or essential oils for fragrance.

Here is the super simple recipe for Natural Lib Scrub

The sugar provides the exfoliating, while the oil and honey hold everything together while providing moisture and nourishment to your lips.

Exfoliate

1. Brush your lips with a soft tooth brush using a bit of water or lip balm, if that helps. Then use a non-stimulating lip balm (no peppermint or cinnamon!) for a couple days.

2. Mix a small amount of olive oil and raw sugar together and use your finger to massage it into your lips. The alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) in sugar help gently dissolve the skin-cell bonds. Don’t forget the corners!

3. Use your facial scrub. Your lips are your face, aren’t they? Apply your regular scrub in small, circular motions around the lip line to slough away dead skin and blackhead build-up.

Ingredients

1 part honey
1 part granulated sweetener
1 part olive oil
